Please be aware that at our last Committee Meeting in October, I suggested we establish a working group to look at our green credentials, or lack of them, to see what improvements we can make.
This will be one of the Club’s first tasks following the AGM on 24/11.
You do not have to be a committee member, if you would like to get involved in this group please contact me.
Meanwhile there are several things upon which we can certainly improve.
Maybe because of the current focus (COP26 etc.) I receive comments & indeed complaints almost daily that court lights are unnecessarily left on when no-one is playing.
This is a little tricky as the current halogen floodlights need about 20 minutes to cool off before being able to be switched on again.
(That will not be the case when we move to LED floodlights).
However, towards the end of an evening when you know that the court will not be used again, the floodlights should be switched off.
Apart from the cost, there is a huge, obvious reason to turn the lights off; let us all take personal responsibility and get much better at this, starting now.
