Pickleball comes to CLTC!
The equipment for two Pickleball courts (on one tennis court) has arrived and the first introductory session was held on Saturday 25th May between 10am and midday. Our resident Pickleball gurus, Gordon & Marian Pell kindly guided us through the basics.
There will be 4 weeks of these Saturday morning introductory sessions (25/5, 1/6, 8/6 & 15/6) after which Pickleball will be integrated into the regular Saturday afternoon mixed social tennis, followed by the usual tea & cake replenishment of carbs afterwards; look forward to seeing you!
Court Scorers
Court scorers have been installed on all six courts. Usual practice is to flip them from the bottom up however we have already seen them from top down. Your call but it’s suggested you both do it the same way!
Two points:
- If the ball strikes the Court Scorer and would clearly have gone in, play a let.
- Please reset all the plastic tabs at the end of your game.

Open Day
We will be holding an Open Day at the Club on Saturday, 15th June, from 2pm to 5pm. Please spread the word amongst family & friends. Do encourage them to come along and knock a ball around and have a refreshing cold drink on us. There will be great membership offers available to those who attend.
PLUS the ‘Introducer Bonus’ is still in operation!
If they join now and renew next year, you as the introducer will get 20% of THEIR renewal fee off YOUR renewal fee next year. For example, if you’re a full adult and you introduce:
- 2 x full adults and 1 x junior, at current rates you will get 20% of £325 = £65 x 2 = £130 plus 20% of £85 = £17, a total of £147 off your 2025 fee!
- 5 x full adults who join and renew in 2025, your membership fee in 2025 will be £0!
Caribbean BBQ Feast
Summer is here, and it’s time to indulge in good food and music while making the most of the weather. Join us on Saturday, June 29th, at 7:30 p.m. for a catered Caribbean BBQ feast with reggae music and excellent company.
The Caribbean feast will include:
- Jerk chicken
- Curry goat
- Sweet potato & lentil dahl (V)
All meals include rice and peas, homemade coleslaw, and plantain. For dessert, you can choose between summer fruit salad and meringue (Eton Mess)—well deserved after a few sets of tennis!
